Plays
Jeanette Dunkley

TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IN EXTRA TIME:
Jeanette is a good nurse but with some unconventional traits. She's ultimately involved with several characters although one of them doesn't even know about it! She latches on to Oliver and Anika in the hope of making money and finds love in an unexpected quarter.

SUM UP YOUR CHARACTER IN THREE WORDS:
Crafty, caring, chameleon.

NURSE DUNKLEY HAS HAD SOME CONTROVERSIAL SCENES IN THE ORIGINAL FOOTBALLERS' WIVES SERIES - SHE HAD HER WAY WITH FRANK LASLETT WHILST HE WAS IN A COMA IN HOSPITAL, AND SHE SWAPPED BABIES FOR TANYA TURNER. WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM HER IN EXTRA TIME IN TERMS OF CONTROVERSIAL SCENES?
We can be sure that Jeanette will be getting up to no good again, her appetite for money and men hasn't waned at all - only the men are younger and prettier this time around - deep joy!

NURSE DUNKLEY HAS A HANDY WAY OF AROUSING PATIENTS FROM COMAS AND CURING THEM OF VARIOUS AILMENTS - WHAT ARE HER METHODS?
Jeanette continues to refine her treatments on coma patients and is tirelessly investigating new techniques. Let us say she focuses on "the very core" of a man, mind you she's a bit at sea if asked to heal a woman.

WAS IT AMUSING SHOOTING THESE SCENES OR DID YOU FIND IT EMBARRESSING OR AWKWARD?
The only way to play these scenes is with wild abandon and gusto and to have a ball! I know Travis (who was obliging) found it very hard to keep a straight face in "that" scene.

DO YOU HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH ANYONE IN THIS SERIES - IF SO, WHO AND HOW DOES IT ARISE?
Ah yes, darling Darius - small but perfectly formed, well perhaps not so small... Jeanette "arises" him through her healing hands and keeps going on up from there.

NURSE DUNKLEY HAS ALWAYS HAD A CRAFTY WAY ABOUT HER, DOES SHE GET INVOLVED IN ANY SCHEMES THIS SERIES AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY?
Jeanette finds herself at the centre of other people's schemes in this series and she's not sure she likes it! Money does have a habit of slipping through her fingers so she allows herself to be embroiled in the hope of making a quick buck.

SHE DOES TRY TO CONVINCE PEOPLE SHE IS A MIRACLE HEALER - DO YOU THINK THIS WILL HAUNT HER THROUGHOUT THE SERIES AND DO YOU THINK SHE WILL SEE THE ERROR OF HER WAYS IN DECIEVING PEOPLE?
Well she does have a "gift"... It's just that it works best one-on-one as it were.

DO YOU THINK NURSE DUNKLEY'S PERSONALITY CHANGES THROUGHOUT THIS SERIES AND IF SO HOW AND WHY?
It's not so much that her personality changes as that we get to see other aspects of it - in particular as woman in love with a younger (conscious) man - a new experience for her! She also starts to blossom as a public performer - until it all goes wrong...

HAVE YOU ENJOYED SHOOTING ON EXTRA TIME?
It's impossible not to have fun playing Jeanette, she's been part of my life for 4 years now and there's always something new to discover about her. She misses her skirmishes with Tanya Turner but is delighted to latch on to her half-sister Anika who clearly shares the same genes. I also love the fact that this time round she gets her man - atta girl!

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT PLAYING YOUR CHARACTER?
It's pure joy to be so outrageous. She's a fabulous combination of high camp and low cunning and she has her serious side too.

IF YOU COULD INTRODUCE A NEW DIMENSION TO YOUR CHARACTER IN TERMS OF PERSONALITY TRAIT OR STORYLINE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
I'd love it if she could actually pull of a really audacious scam of her own. Or perhaps we could discover that she has a really glamorous, successful and scheming twin who comes into the series who she can come up against.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE AND DISLIKE ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER IF YOU WERE INTRODUCED IN REAL LIFE?
Well she has a tendency to be money-grabbing, but I forgive her because she has a heart of gold.

WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES/DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOU AND THE CHARACTER YOU ARE PLAYING?
Oh my giddy aunt - now that really would be telling dear but I do practise the most intimate scenes on my husband quite a bit.

HOW DO YOU THINK EXTRA TIME DIFFERS FROM THE ORIGINAL SERIES? IN WHAT WAYS IS IT BETTER?
It's sexier and it's better because Nurse Dunkley's in it more but then I would say that wouldn't I?

HAVE YOU FILMED A MEMORABLE SCENE YET?
Well that wet towel whipping scene certainly sticks in my memory - where does the producer get their ideas from?!

WHAT ROLE ARE YOU BEST KNOWN FOR?
I think I must be most famously or is it infamously known for my favourite character, dear Nurse Dunkley.

WHAT OTHER TV SHOWS/THEATRE/FILMS HAVE YOU APPEARED IN?
The Bill, Casualty, Inspector Morse...

WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND BROUGHT UP?
Born in Scotland, brought up in Bath but I'm actually half French.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?
West London.

DO YOU SUPPORT A FOOTBALL TEAM?
Oh dear no, I tend to glaze over unless we are winning the world cup.

WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING INVOLVED WITH EXTRA TIME?
Being back at Shed - catching up with old mates and making new ones. It's like being part of a family and I always know I'm in for a good time.

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE YOU APPEARED IN THE LAST SERIES OF FOOTBALLERS' WIVES?
I've been busy busy, getting married, going on honeymoon, moving house, doing the new Sandi Toksvig play "Flying Under Bridges", appearing in The Bill, on the radio and in several short films.

WHAT ARE YOU HOPING TO DO AFTER FINISHING FILMING THE SERIES?
Go on tour as a faith healer hopefully! I'm actually performing in a great farce "See How They Run" which is touring the UK, Plymouth, Richmond, Norwich, Newcastle, Sheffield etc. I am playing Miss Skillon who is a million miles from Nurse Dunkley. She is very self-righteous, a busy body battle axe. It should be a cracking night out for those that come to see it.

WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME?
Entertaining our friends in our new home, teaching at The Artists Theatre School which I run with my best mate Amanda Redman, reading for my book club, going to the theatre, cinema, art galleries, travelling, going to the gym, oh yes - and shopping.
