REMIND US OF WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR CHARACTER AT THE END OF LAST SERIES?
I wasn't involved in the first series of Extra Time but my storyline jumps over from Footballers' Wives in this series.
DARIUS STARTS OFF THE SERIES IN HOSPITAL - WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM?
Darius has been injured as a result of getting shoved down the stairs at a nightclub. It turns out that Garry Ryan was behind it in an attempt to receive an insurance payout so he could buy a new player called Callum for Earls Park. He has a broken leg and his future in football looks very grim.
HOW DOES DARIUS FEEL ABOUT BEING IN HOSPITAL AND THE FACT THAT IT HAS RUINED HIS CAREER?
Darius totally gives up on life, as football was the only thing he could do well. The crippling injury means his football days are behind him.
DOES HE HAVE MUCH HOPE FOR THE FUTURE?
He doesn't have any hope for the future. For a while Darius feels like he will never smile again. It almost seems like he is received bad karma as a result of his rape incident in Spain.
JUST WHEN EVERYTHING LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING DOWNHILL FOR DARIUS, NURSE DUNKLEY COMES ON TO THE SCENE AND SOMEHOW SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO LIFT HIS SPIRITS. HOW DOES SHE MANAGE TO DO SO AND WHAT EFFECT DOES THIS HAVE ON DARIUS?
Darius hears about Jeanettes so-called "healing hands" and begs her to look after him and work her magic on him. This involves certain sexual activity that he believes is actually going to help him walk again.
DARIUS SEEMS TO BE IN AWE OF NURSE DUNKLEY AND IN FACT, IT LOOKS LIKE HE HAS TRULY FALLEN FOR HER. TELL US WHY AND HOW?
I think Darius falls for Jeanette because she truly cares for him and not many people feel that way about Darius. She also knows of what happened in Spain and understand his self-torment. How many people can forgive a rapist? I don't think there is love there to begin with but I think as they get to know each other, it does develop. She gives Darius so much hope for the future and they both help one another believe in themselves.
DO YOU HAVE ANY CONTROVERSIAL OR SAUCY SCENES COMING UP THIS SERIES? IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY AND WITH WHOM?
I do have a few sex scenes with Julie who plays Jeanette - quite unlike what I've done in the past.
WHAT WERE THESE LIKE TO FILM?
These scenes were surreal to shoot. I don't think I'll be letting my grandmother watch them!
WHAT DOES DARIUS THINK OF NURSE DUNKLEY'S CURING TECHNIQUES WHEN HE FINDS OUT?
When Darius first discovers what Jeanette's healing techniques actually are he is shocked, especially knowing she did this to Oliver and Frank Laslett. However he still believes that she has the power to cure and encourages her to carry on with her life-saving techniques.
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT PLAYING DARIUS?
I enjoy the fact that Darius has some great storylines and memorable scenes.
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE AND DISLIKE ABOUT DARIUS IF YOU WERE INTRODUCED IN REAL LIFE?
I would like the old, innocent and naive Darius that he used to be but over time some of his more likeable characteristics have disappeared.
WHAT ARE THE SIMILARITIES/DIFFERENCES BETWEEN YOU AND DARIUS?
I look a bit like him I suppose.
HOW DO YOU THINK EXTRA TIME DIFFERS FROM FOOTBALLERS' WIVES
The fact that Extra Time is on a bit later means that it can be a lot more risky and saucy. I really enjoyed working on Extra Time, the whole cast and crew were amazing to get on with.
HAVE YOU FILMED A MEMORABLE SCENE YET?
I loved filming the hospital scenes with Tom Swire who plays Seb Webb. We were speeding up and down the corridors in wheelchairs - it was hilarious!
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST PROFESSIONAL ACTING ROLE?
It was Footballers' Wives - I started in the second series back when I was 17.
WHERE WERE YOU BORN AND BROUGHT UP?
WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?
I still live up north. I love Manchester so much. Great people, great nightlife! I'm a proud Mancunian!
DO YOU SUPPORT A FOOTBALL TEAM?
Not really. I don't follow football that closely.
WHAT'S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING INVOLVED WITH EXTRA TIME?
The people I've met - I've really enjoying working it.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING SINCE FILMING THE LAST SERIES?
I was lucky enough to be involved in Theatre Absolute's "Street Trilogy" which was a set of three brilliant plays by Chris O'Connell. We toured them earlier in the year.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPING TO DO AFTER FINISHING FILMING THE SERIES?
I would love to be involved in more theatre.
WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR FREE TIME? ANY HOBBIES OR SPORTS YOU ENJOY?
I usually spend my free time with my mates back home up north.
